First Impression: Well it looks like I have another admirer over at Overby Farm! I just received a care package full of HipBones. Now I had never heard of a cherry before. So it was Dad’s turn to take one for the team. He had to let me know if they actually tasted like cherries. He said definitely not. So even though they don’t taste like cherries they still have the same benefits, like those wonderful cranberry treats that I reviewed awhile ago. Apparently these people use tart cherry concentrate for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties! Ingenious, berries are truly amazing. The creators also include a heart felt story of their two puppies Lucy and Abbey for whom they created these great treats.

Conclusion: All natural ingredients, resealable bag, and a natural source of antioxidants and anti-inflammatories. Anytime you can work some antioxidants into your diet you should.

First Impression: Well the kind folks over at Wellness Pet Food heard about my website and sent me some treats to try! They ended up sending me a big box of their WellBars that have Yogurt, Apples, and Bananas in them. Totally vegetarian, oven baked with lots of vitamins! I’m sure you have read one of my other reviews about Old Mother Hubbard, they make outstanding healthy treats. Turns out that WellNess is owned by Old Mother Hubbard. Who knew? As usual Dad ran me though a barrage of tests to see how much I really wanted the treat. Let’s just say I had to work very hard. Those silly “sit ups” that little dogs do, roll over, sit, stay, down, etc, just to have him put the treats in my Everlasting Treat Ball! I made short work of it and devoured my new delicious and healthy treats. The only thing I’m a little disappointed about is I found out that they have WellBites that are soft treats. They even have one that’s Lamb and Salmon flavored… Those are two of my favorite things in the world. Now I have to talk Dad into buying them for me…

Conclusion: Outstanding healthy dog treats! A must buy for a healthy pup.

First Impression: Well what dog doesn’t like liver treats? These treats have five simple ingredients: wheat flour, cranberry, liver, salt, and garlic powder. Of course I always like it when meat is the first ingredient, but these are pretty good. Dad likes their mild smell and since they are dry he doesn’t have to get his hands all dirty.

Conclusion: Well I know how good cranberries are for humans. So they must have a similar antioxidant property for puppies too, right? You bet they do! Cranberries support a healthy urinary tract! Also cranberries are a natural preservative. Since it’s an antioxidant, it helps keep fats from becoming oxidized. When fats become oxidized they start to taste bad, and loose nutritional value. Sorry, if I started ranting, but I really like natural science. Even if you don’t understand the science, I really think you will like how they taste. Dad says they are very handy when he doesn’t have time to clean up after a quick training session.

First Impression: The friendly folks over at “Exclusively Dog” heard about my website and sent me 5 of their products to test. I’ve included scans that detail the ingredients and health facts for each of the products below.

Cheese Flavor - Best Buddy Bits.

Let me just start off by saying that I Love how sweet all of these treats taste. Dad was/is considering trying one because they look and smell so much like human cookies. Plus the ingredients are very straight forward, they are probably healthier than most the stuff Mom eats… But there in lies the problem. Dad thinks that they are too sweet for a puppy of any age. The second ingredient in almost all of them is sugar. As we all know puppies have a hard time processing sugar, and just like humans can develop diabetes.

Conclusion: Your puppy is nearly guaranteed to LOVE the taste. However these should only be used as an occasional treat! If you were to feed your puppies these sugary sweet morsels every day, they would soon plump up. If you puppy is already overweight or does not exercise regularly, you may want to think twice. On the PRO side they are all natural, with no animal bi-products! 3 out of 4 paws, because Dad made me! If we were judging on taste alone they would be a 4.

First Impression: Nutri-Vet heard about my website! They decided to send me a bag of their Peanut Butter flavored biscuits. Well what dog doesn’t love peanut butter??? Right now my hips are fine, but I’m a young pup at a mere 13 months. I’m sure as time progresses I’ll run into some sore joints, just like all large breed dogs do. So I’m happy to know that there is something out there that can help, and tastes as good as this!

Conclusion: Tastes great, no animal bi-products, resealable bag, and it tastes like PB!

First Impression: Natural Balance Dog Food Rolls are like puppy crack. Dad buys the roll and cuts it up into finger sized pieces. Then he uses his Food Saver to vacuum seal the left over pieces of the roll. When Dad trains me, he uses pieces of the roll as treats. He keeps them in a ziploc bag in his pocket when we go on walks. I didn’t like the Turkey flavor as much; they were drier and less tasty. I would recommend the Natural Balance Dog Food Roll Lamb Formula to any Rottweiler, but I won’t share mine.

Conclusion: Absolutely the best training treat I’ve ever had! Liver treats are good, but they can be too rich and upset my stomach. Plus dad says these are WAY cheaper than the liver treats.

First Impression: Dad and Mom bought me Greenies when I was a puppy. They were ok, but I always left pieces laying around. Then someone at PetSmart told Mom not to buy them for me anymore. Apparently they had heard of a lot of intestinal problems from dogs swallowing too large of pieces.

Conclusion: ABC News article about how Greenies could kill your dog. Newsday.com article about an individuals dog that died. KIRO TV article about an individuals dog that had to have surgery. Some VERY graphic photographs of a dogs blocked intestine from oes.org. If you have to feed your dog greenies, use the “Greenies Lil’ Bits” instead of the big bone/toothbrush shape. At least there is less chance of a blockage. 0 out of 4 Paws because your puppy’s health is not worth risking.
