First Impression: Apparently these are the vests that the Military working dogs in Iraq and Afghanistan use. I’m not sure about the one size fits all large dogs mentality of this… It fits well enough but Dad it thinking about taking it to a seamstress for a couple alterations. I have a pretty big chest and could use another couple inches of length in the chest section. As for the function of the vest, it does help in high temperatures. I got to go visit some of Mom and Dad’s friends in Washington State and it was like 102 degrees. I may have died if I didn’t have the vest. I also wear the vest when I am walking to my volunteer Therapy Dog gig. When I wear the vest on the walk there, it keeps me cool enough that I am not drooling all over the place and panting too bad. I do think the vest is the most effective while I am laying on it, but it does reduce my overall recovery time.

Conclusion: If you get too hot on those long walks, talk your parents into one of these. It will set them back $140 including shipping, but I think it’s worth it. Plus 10% of your vest purchase goes to the Space Coast War Dog Association to purchase additional vests for our protectors of freedom in Iraq and Afghanistan. 3 out of 4 paws because even though it does help, its not a complete “fix-all” solution. It more like making the best of a bad situation.

First Impression: Well right off the bat I just wanted to destroy this thing. Dad kept putting my toys inside, and when I tried to get them out it would collapse on the toys. So within a matter of hours I had holes torn in all sides. Not designed well for puppies. Dad said that the next one he purchases will be a spiral design, so it would compress down instead of folding over on itsself.

Conclusion: Pointless if you are using it for a puppy. 1.5 out of 4 paws because even though the overall construction is good, the design is poor.

First Impression: Well after I got done with my solo tetherball match, I decided I should play on the human kids playground. First I started with the straight slide. It was pretty fun and I went down it a few times. Then I tried the spiral slide. Never ever ever try the spiral slide. Let me tell all you puppies that I took one for the team on that one.

First Impression: I LOVE tetherball, but I need a strong human setup to play. The tetherballs for dogs just don’t hold up under my weight. Mom and Dad bought me a Baden tetherball. Dad picked one out that was rubbery and tough! Then he pumped it up about 2psi more than what is recommended so I can’t compress it to puncture it.

Conclusion: If you like sports like me, tetherball is a great way to blow some energy. Just have your parents take you to a school, or better yet have them cement your own pole in the backyard. As soon as my Dad latches the rope on, I go crazy. As you can see from my pictures, I fly though the air, sometimes swinging from the rope. That’s no easy feat for a 120+ lb puppy!

First Impression: At first I didn’t know what Dad wanted me to do with the Lixit Dog Waterer. But after Dad showed me a couple times, I caught on very quickly. The instructions say you can put peanut butter on the lever, but Dad just pushed it with his finger. Also, he showed me that I can press my nose on the Lixit to make water come out. Fascinating!

Conclusion: Dad says it’s well worth the money! He never has to worry about a water bowl outside. When I play outside and get thirsty, I use the Dog Waterer. I lick it and it gives me fresh water. It hasn’t leaked so far. I now think that Mom’s bath faucet will turn on if I lick it for long enough. The Dog Waterer was very inexpensive and is recommended for all outdoor dogs, or even dogs that just go outside when they have to (like me).

First Impression: Dad found me a great dog door. The Patio Pet Door Quick Panel fits into a sliding glass door. There is no permanent installation, so it’s great for puppy parents who do not own their homes. Dad assembled the door himself and I fit through the dog door easily. It has a panel that can be slid into the dog door to lock me outside when I need a “time out” or lock me inside when Dad’s working in the backyard. Patio Pet Door Quick Panels are recommended for Rottweilers who live in rented homes. To save a little on shipping you may want to shop around online. Dad found a company that sold the door for the same price as the manufacturer but had free shipping. The door was still drop shipped directly from the manufacturer so it was no different, other than saving $40.

The door did not make a great seal, so Dad went to a home improvement store and bought some extra adhesive weather stripping. He doubled up the strips on either side of the Patio Pacific panel so it makes a weather proof seal. The Quick Panel III is only a single pane of glass so if you live in a very cold area you may want to look at Patio Pacific’s double pane products.

Conclusion: In the long run Dad thinks the Patio Pet door was well worth the money. It was a fairly steep investment, but he never has to worry about letting me outside. Plus I’ve learned to even let myself outside when I’m not feeling well. So there are absolutely no mistakes inside! Dad loves that! 3.5 out of 4 Paws just because of the price.

First Impression: Dad bought a baby gate for me, but I don’t think I want it… He put it up in the bedroom door frame to keep me out of the bedroom because I fart during the night. I can see over and through the gate to visit Mom and Dad when they’re in their bedroom, but I can’t seem to get in.. I don’t like the gate, but Dad and Mom love it.

Conclusion: If your parents would rather you didn’t enter a certain area of the house, this is the perfect way for them to control you. 3 out of 4 Paws just because of the price.
