GCI - Party Pets - Monkey Stick 26″
July 26, 2007 2:35 pm- First Impression: Well as I’m sure my regular readers know, I’m a sucker for stuffed animals. Shredding them to pieces is one of my favorite activities. So when Mom and Dad took me to this “fu-fu” pet store called Diggidy Dog in Carmel, CA. I just knew I had to get something to destroy. Fortunately, they had this 26 inch giant monkey stick. The center of the monkey had my favorite “grunt” squeaker that my old hedgehog had. Then it had the normal small squeakers in each of its paws. Oh how I loved destroying that monkey. I tore its head off within a couple days. Dad has made his own Suture Needle just for type of thing. He quickly sutured the monkeys head back on with fishing line, and I was back at it. I then ripped off his arms. Dad just sutured the holes shut and trashed the arms. About that time I had already ruined the large “grunt” squeaker, it no longer made any noise. I then proceeded to rip the monkeys head off again. It was harder this time because of the fishing line, but the fabric eventually ripped, not Dad’s stitch work. Dad decided that was enough and the toy went into that big brown bin outside… I really want to get into that bin, I know all my old toys are in there…
- Conclusion: If your parents are willing to buy you toys just so you can destroy something, this one was fun. It won’t last long, but it grunts, squeaks, and shreds well. 2.5 out of 4 paws because although it was fun, it just didn’t last long enough.

Fat Cat - Doggy Hoots - Incredible Strapping Yankers - Rainbow Trout
January 23, 2007 3:14 pm- First Impression: Well the kind people over at Fat Cat inc. sent me a rainbow trout! I personally had never seen one before, so Dad had to explain it to me. Fascinating! I think the reason I like it so much is because bears eat them, and of course I want to be just like a bear. Dad gave me two new toys last night, and this one won out! Dad was actually surprised. For some reason I really like to chew on this fish, and throw it around. Sometimes I just like to hit Dad with it. It says that they have tested it to withstand a half a ton of “yank testing.” Dad says that there is not enough for him to hold onto for it to be a good tug-a-war toy - I can pull it away from him pretty easily. Doesn’t matter to me, I’m really like this catch!
- Conclusion: So far I haven’t damaged the fish at all! I would like it a little bit more if there were 2 or 3 squeakers in it. One squeaker seems to be difficult to find. Also if they spent all that time making it withstand a half a ton of “yankin”, they may want to make it easier for humans to hold onto. Overall it’s very entertaining for me!
- Follow up: After 2 nights of playing I’ve partially torn one of the fins off and there is stuffing in there that I’m going to start pulling out soon. Also I’ve torn a good “L” in the side of the fish. I can see the “strapping” inside that is supposed to make the toy strong. Not much they can do to protect the fabric. I’ll post more when it’s completely destroyed.
- Follow up #2: After about 30 more minutes I ripped the nose off of the trout. As soon as Dad saw me pulling stuffing out he trashed the fish… Guess it’s bad for puppies to eat. Darn! Fun while it lasted, but it only lasted 3 days…

Petco - Holiday Moose
December 30, 2006 12:10 pm- First Impression: My Grandmother bought me this for Christmas… It had the standard small squeaker, and stretchy legs that made a crunchy noise. I ripped the legs off within an hour of light play. Then Dad stitched up the leg sockets that had stuffing coming out. I quickly tore the neck so I could pull out more stuffing. Dad finally took the toy away and trashed it.
- Conclusion: Save your money and put it towards a real toy. 1 out of 4 Paws because it was entertaining to destroy so quickly.

Tuffie’s - Tuffzilla (Tuff Scale)
December 23, 2006 2:12 pm- First Impression: I love this new toy Mom and Dad bought me at Best Pet! It is as tall as I am, soft(ish), and seems very durable. It also has some little squeakers built into the spines. I just got the toy about an hour ago, so I’ll post more after I’ve had some time to play with it.
- Follow up: Well I’ve had a little over a day to thoroughly play with TuffZilla and I must say it is built very well. I’ve started to split the seams on the nose and feet slightly, but Dad keeps burning the threads back to make sure I don’t have an unfair advantage. Dad plans on performing surgery with heavy thread or fishing line as necessary to prolong the life of my new friend Tuffzilla. I think there should be some more squeakers though; they are pretty hard to find most the time. Also, when I start swinging Tuffzilla around and hit people with it, they seem to think it hurts. Tuffzilla is very dense and the seams are very rigid.
- Follow up #2: I tore the stitching out of the groin and pulled a few good mouthfuls of cotton stuffing out. Dad took my toy away and stitched it back up with some fishing line. The groin seems to be holding. I then shredded 3 teeth, and a few of Tuffzilla’s claws. Dad had to cut the back with scissors so I wouldn’t eat them. String constantly gets unraveled so Dad keeps burning it back. Since the toy is so expensive dad keeps trying to make it last. I think with a few more play sessions I can ruin it good enough that he will give up. Wish me luck!
- Conclusion: The product has a high price tag but is built well and I love having a toy thats more “my size.” If you can talk your parents into a TuffZilla I’d recommend it!

Air Kong Squeaker Fetch Stick
December 19, 2006 12:34 pm- First Impression: Kong makes the Air Kong Squeaker Fetch Stick. It isn’t able to be stuffed with treats like other Kongs. Instead it’s a stick-like toy made out of tennis ball material. I love the sound of this squeaker! Mom and Dad think it’s pretty high pitched, but I’m thrilled about it. I run around the house squeeking it at Mom and Dad like I’m talking to them. I chewed on the toy so much that within a week, I pulled the small squeaker out of the end. There is an 1/8in hole at the end of the toy and it no longer squeaks. I pretty much ignore the toy now. I wish Kong would make this squeaker more durable.
- Conclusion: The product didn’t last more than seven days, so if you’re an aggressive chewer like me you should probably think twice. Dad said he would give it one more shot since I liked it so much. I’ll let you all know if I ever get to review a second one.

- First Impression: This squeak toy uses the standard small squeaker that you can easily purchase replacements for at PetSmart. I like my Pooch Pleasers Bone Sheepskin Dog Toy. It’s fairly large and I like to grab it and shake it around. The problem is that there is only one squeaker in the toy. I have a difficult time finding where to bite on the toy to make it make noise. This toy could be improved with more squeakers!
- Conclusion: I seem to be less interested in this toy as time goes on. It’s still in one piece which is unusual for a soft fabric toy, so it is definitely made well. If your parents know how to perform surgery (sew) ask them to add a few more squeakers to it and I’m sure you will enjoy it. 3 out of 4 Paws because it’s built well, but not enough squeakers. Can you really ever have enough squeakers though… The age old puppy question…

Booda Soft Bites - Large Hedgehog
10:14 am- First Impression: I loved my 8 in. Hedgehog. It was soft and fit perfectly in my mouth. I carried it around with me and used it as my translation device. Whenever I got excited, I’d grab my Hedgehog and start talking to Dad and Mom. Unfortunately, the Hedgehog had small feet that I ripped off. Then the seams split open and the Hedgehog’s stuffing came apart. The Hedgehog lasted about two weeks. It was not designed for Rottweilers. Dad saved the squeaker and sewed it into one of Mom’s old stuffed animals.
- Conclusion: Overall a great toy, but I destroyed it way to fast. 3 out of 4 Paws just because its not strong enough.

Booda Bellies - Large Penguin
10:13 am- First Impression: I love my Booda Penguin. It makes a great noise, kinda like a duck. Mom calls it my translator. I grab it and make it quack whenever I get it excited. I grab its neck and swing it around, hitting myself and everything in my path. It’s great that they make Booda’s large enough for Rottweilers.
However, after about 10 days of use, I managed to rip the penguin’s head off and tried to eat his stuffing. Dad sewed his neck together so the headless penguin would last a few more days. Then I tore his chest open, and Dad double stitched it back up. This was one of my favorite toys.
- Conclusion: After Dad stitched the toy up for the second time it’s been pretty durable. If your parents can sew, this is a great toy, otherwise it will only last you a matter of hours. 3 out of 4 Paws just because of how easily I destroyed it.
